High Tatras

I would like to ask a question. Friend of mine plans to spend a MTB week in High Tatras. He wonders if there is any ban on use of mountain trails. We have a special rule in Slovenia which prohibit use of some trails narrower than 1 m.

Well, there is a law that bans riding on bikes except for offical cycling-routes. High Tatras is a National Park with the highest environmental protection, so there is a risk of a huge fine from the local watch. However, I have been biking besides the official cycling-routes and met many tourists and one NP watch and all of them were really nice and had no objection about our presence in the NP.

Thank you very much for this info. I do the same but with greatest respect to the mountaneers and MTB ethics. However let me ask you how expensive could be if you take the risk?

I have no idea. Personally, I can't remember of anyone being caught by those men. And, IMHO, if you behave quietly and friendly, there is a very small chance of an accidental expenditure...

Exactly, besides if you pretend that you did not know about the ban, they might let you go, without a fine. However, stay on trails at all time, no freeriding.

That's quite right, i was on a trip to H.Tatras a few days ago and many times, we have to carry our bikes over the fallen trees and some trails were even closed to public. But still we found some great paths, it is definitely an amazing experience - biking in High Tatras

Z Kezmarskych zlabov na chatu Plesnivec, horom na Zelene pleso, dole do Matliarov, Hrebienok, Studenovodske vodopady, po modrej do Lomnice, na Skalnatom plese...

Je to fakt krasa. Ale par usekov sme sa predierali cez mnoho stromov padnutych, take blbe useky, aj pre pesich problem, sme si hadzali biky, inak to neslo... Ale inak bola uplna pohodicka, vsetko zjazdne (az na usek pred Brncalkou po cervenej a kusok pod Skalnatym plesom smerom dole)

Pekná trasa, raz som to skúsil na Zelené pleso v zime. Iné kafe.

Ja som to raz skusil v lete a hore na skalach ma predbiehali Cesky turisti s otazkou:,,Pesky je to rychleji,co?"Ale bol som hotovy,ked som prisiel domou,do PP...krasna cesta.

Ale ta trasa co pisal Cervo musi byt pecka...ked budem velky,skuseny biker,tak to skusim :wink:
